The Little Girl That Was Afraid

The little girl that was afraid is afraid no more.
Growing up, she never fitted in with groups or clicks.
She never was a follower, but an independent soul that was ahead of her generation.
She loved being around her family because it gave her strength.
You could say she was lucky for having her family around, but some days it didn’t feel that way.
It seems that when the extended family no longer had reunions, the spiritual bond broke; inviting negativity to entertain the little girl’s mind.
Girl cousins wanted to grow up and looked down upon the little girl because she was not like them; but she never had problems with her male cousins.
Slowly but surely, the armor of confidence and self-love began to crack around the little girl.
Over a period of time, the little vibrant carefree girl was no more; in place was an entirely different person.
Good friends seemed to leave out of the little girl’s life, and she felt so alone.
Through puberty and into young adulthood, sometimes bits and pieces of the little girl would appear, but fear, anxiety, and self-hatred overshadowed.
She truly felt alone and wanted to end her life, but there was always a little voice that stopped her to even attempt.
What was that little voice or barrier preventing her from thinking so little of her life?
Why is she so special?
Is she really that worth it?
Is there a reason for her existence?
It was a huge internal battle fighting for control of the little girl who is now a woman.
Who will win?
The days and nights of screaming, crying, and hopelessness wore the woman down.
College really took a toll on her.
The first time she told her crush how she felt, he obliterated her soul even more.
She did not know he was not on her level or so she thought, but an immature fellow who has yet to learn about life like her.
Jealously, self-hatred, self-doubt took hold of her heart, mind, and body; causing a hole in her soul.
Graduation came, she is just a shell, but many who looked at her couldn’t tell.
Two years later, the vibrant little girl is coming back; her faith is growing, her spirit is growing.
She is seeking for her place on earth to fulfill her story before she dies.
Now we will wait and see what will happen to the little girl that was afraid.
